Township Government
Township Government is one of the oldest forms of government; dating back to the 17th-century. There are 1006 townships in Indiana. Township Government is a "grassroots" form of government, often at the forefront of assisting residents in need. Portage Township; the largest township in Porter County, is comprised of the City of Portage, unincorporated Porter County; including the South Haven Community and the Town of Ogden Dunes.
