The South Haven Fire Department is a primary responder to emergencies in the South Haven Community, as well as a mutual responder to the City of Portage.

Since the early 1960s, the members of SHFD have unselfishly dedicated their time to serving and protecting the community.  The department's personnel includes six full-time firefighters/paramedics, five part-time chiefs, and approximately 30 volunteers who are firefighters, firefighters/EMTs, and firefighters/paramedics.
