South Haven Fire Department Logo

The South Haven Fire Department is a primary responder to emergencies in the South Haven Community, as well as a mutual responder to the City of Portage.

 

Since the early 1960s, the members of SHFD have unselfishly dedicated their time to serving and protecting the community.  The department's personnel includes six full-time firefighters/paramedics, five part-time chiefs, and approximately 30 volunteers who are firefighters, firefighters/EMTs, and firefighters/paramedics.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

CPR Classes are held throughout the year in collaboration with the American Heart Association

 

We offer the State of Indiana EMT Basic Course

 

Our Fire Safety & Prevention Program is provided every October throughout local elementary schools

 

Smoke Detectors are provided to the public at no charge in cooperation with the American Red Cross

 

Goblin Patrol is out every Halloween, ensuring the safety of Trick-Or-Treaters

 

Santa Claus parks his sleigh and greets the community aboard a fire truck every holiday season

Porter County Central Communications (911) is urging residents of Porter County and surrounding areas to sign up for Smart911.

Smart911 can help responders serve the community better in an emergency. When any registered phone is used to dial 911, dispatchers are automatically provided with information that has been linked to that phone. Users can register cell phones and landlines, entering pertinent information about themselves, family members, their homes, automobiles, and even their pets.
